You Will Leave Everything Behind

The most important day of your life will the day of your death. Think about that. On that day, nothing else will matter except what you have done for God and where you are going. Your house, your car, your money, your sports will mean nothing on that day. You will be leaving time and entering into eternity. Meditate on that breath-taking moment. In the exhale of one breath, you will leave everything you love. Your wedding ring. Your spouse. Your loved ones. Your vehicle. Your money. Everything. Tonight, God could say to you, "This night your soul is required of you." Let such sobering thoughts consume you. Let them drive you to use your life for what matters, to reach out to the unsaved and make a big dent in this sinful world. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

Unforgettable Cries

What do you and I think about? What is it that we meditate on most? It is "desire" that determines most of our thought patterns. It should be that the human predicament narrows down what we think about. Imagine a Titanic survivor. He is sitting with a few other survivors in a large, mostly empty lifeboat as the great ocean liner heaves and sinks silently beneath the freezing waters of the ocean. The only sounds that break that eerie silence are the unforgettable cries of perishing human beings pleading to be saved from an icy grave. There's plenty of room in the lifeboat. What is it then that should consume the survivor's thoughts? He should be utterly focused on saving those that are around him. Nothing else should matter, compared to the task that is before him. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

Consider the President

Consider the late President Kennedy. One moment he was sitting in his limo with his wife, smiling and waving to adoring crowds. The next moment he was in eternity. A small piece of fast-moving metal sent him there in a split second. Imagine you were taken back to the time just before he stepped into the limo. You can't stop the assassination, but you can talk to him for a few moments about his eternal salvation. Are you so intimidated by his status that you would remain silent? Of course not! You know what will happen to him. You look beyond the presidency into eternity. You ignore your fears and look into his eyes. You see the frailty of his humanity, and think how in an instant of time he will be blasted into death. Now think of the rest of humanity ... death will take 150,000 into eternity in the next 24 hours. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

If It's Not the Whole Truth, It's No Longer the Truth at All.

When we remove words like sin, repentance, judgment, and Hell from our message, we are in danger of preaching "another Gospel." If it’s not the whole truth, it’s no longer the truth at all. It becomes illegitimate and produces illegitimate children, who call God their father, but still serve the devil. The great key to making sure that we are never guilty of this is to say with Paul, "In the sight of God we speak in Christ." In other words, the words we speak are never dictated by a fear of offending sinners on earth. Instead, they are dictated by the fear of offending a holy God in Heaven. Nothing compromises truth like seeking the approval of men. And nothing ensures the truth like seeking the approval of Almighty God. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Eternity on the Eyes

Do you realize that God's Law is the unmovable rock that will forever stop the flow of the River Life for everyone who dies in his sins?  It will damn them forever!  What a terrifying horror:  to be damned for eternity!  Yet, so few are warned.  Shake off any thoughts of tickling ears with carefully chosen words that don't offend, and do what Jesus did.  Speak the truth in love.  Keep their fate before your mind.  Inscribe "eternity" on your eyes.  This life is like a dry and burning desert.  Time is like precious water cupped in your hands.  Only an ignorant person will let its life-giving drops fall through his or her fingers.  Benjamin Franklin said, "Do you love life?  Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of."  There goes another minute.  Gone forever.  Go share your faith while you still have time.
